Last summer my honey was told that his liver was storing too much fat and that it was enlarged. . . he gave up alcohol. Not that he drank very much but the occasional beer after hockey or golfing was always a nice reward. The doctor said try it for a while and see if there is any improvement. . . nothing changed. They gave it a name. . . Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Liver Disease. . . that's scary.
We eat pretty healthy, I think, but nothing was improving, something had to change. One day at Costco I came across a book 'Wheat Belly' by Dr. William Davis, I brought it home and it has changed how I look at food and what we were (passed tense) consuming.
I knew Rob ate way too much sugar but I had never considered all they 'other sugars' that were hidden in our food. . . carbs and refined sugar. . . it was in almost everything we were eating.
So my recipes here will change and you will see healthy alternatives for most of the foods we were eating.
Do a little research on the Paleo diet. . . it was a real eye opener for me.
